General Manager

About Us: 

Little Makers is a Brooklyn Based art studio for the curious and creative. We focus on the making, not the finished product. Families are invited to experiment, get messy, and express themselves. As a small business, we’re excited to build lasting connections with families in our neighborhood.

Position: General Manager
Schedule: Full Time (40 hours weekly, flexible schedule, with additional “on call” hours)
Hourly Rate: $25

​

About The Role:

​​We are looking for a hands-on leader who is excited to own the studio’s daily operations, team culture, and customer experience. They take pride in being at the center of the work that makes a business thrive and making decisions that move the studio forward. The right person is proactive, dependable, and comfortable wearing many hats while bringing organization, creativity, and initiative to their work. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Studio Leadership

  • Lead the daily operations of the studio.

  • Set the standard for customer service, professionalism, and teamwork.

  • Ensure studio policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed.

 

Team Management

  • Manage all studio employees through the onboarding process, training, and scheduling.

  • Lead staff meetings and provide ongoing coaching.

  • Support our team’s morale and workplace culture.

 

Customer Experience

  • Oversee the family experience from inquiry to enrollment.

  • Manage customer communication and resolve concerns.

  • Monitor reviews, feedback, and retention.

 

Operations

  • Manage studio systems and operational processes.

  • Create and maintain staff and customer-facing policies, guides, and resources.

  • Oversee studio inventory and support financial procedures.

 

Collaboration & Initiative

  • Work closely with our management team to improve operations, strengthen programming, and support studio growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years leadership or management experience.

  • Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team.

  • Comfortable multi-tasking and meeting deadlines

  • Proficient with Google Workspace and common business software, with a strong ability to learn new systems.

  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed (see Availability).

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of employment. LMS does not reimburse for cost to obtain CPR certification but the course can be completed on paid time).

  • A creative mindset, or experience in arts, education, and hospitality is a plus.

 

Availability:
We’re looking for someone who can commit to a flexible full time scheduling, providing support to our team beyond typical hours in our studio. Consistency is essential for our programs and families, so this availability is required for the role. Required availability includes:

  • Expected studio shifts mid week Monday - Thursday 9 am - 5 pm

  • In person support for all camp dates (scheduled in advance)

  • Provide support, as needed,  to our team over weekend shifts (Flexible hours).​
