Little Makers is a Brooklyn Based art studio for the curious and creative. We focus on the making, not the finished product. Families are invited to experiment, get messy, and express themselves. As a small business, we’re excited to build lasting connections with families in our neighborhood.

Position: Program Lead, After-School & Camps
Schedule: M-Th 2pm - 6pm
Hourly Rate: $23-$25

Additional Expectations: [camp availability, weekend shift, training, CPR/First Aid, etc.]

About The Role:

​​This role is ideal for someone who is patient, and can calmly manage large groups of children with confidence. Strong organization and communication skills are essential. A bit of creativity and a love for hands-on art are highly valued, though formal art education is not required. This is a hands-on teaching position, but it includes additional leadership and responsibility. You will report to, and work closely with management to strengthen LMS programming and team culture.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the lead instructor for After-School programs and camps. 

  • Ensure programs run smoothly from arrival through dismissal 

  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Program coordinator to share feedback that strengthens our curriculum and the studio experience. 

• Guide and support instructors and studio assistants within the programs. 

• Prepare materials, supplies, and activities, ensuring the studio is organized and ready before each session. 

• Lead LMS programming and adapt instruction to meet each child at their level.  Maintain a safe, inviting and well-organized studio space. 

• Build positive relationships with families by communicating warmly and professionally about student experiences and addressing questions as needed.  Represent Little Makers Studio with professionalism, supporting a positive team culture and creating an exceptional experience for every family.

 

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years working with children in educational, creative, or recreational settings. Demonstrated ability to manage large groups of children. 

• Strong organization, and communication skills. 

• A love of art, creativity, and hands-on, sometimes messy projects.

• Enthusiasm for teaching and learning alongside children. 

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of employment. LMS does not reimburse for cost to obtain CPR certification but the course can be completed on paid time).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with art materials, classroom management, and education. 

• Experience with process-based art, STEM-inspired projects, or adaptive art.

• Bring fresh ideas, a willingness to learn, and openness to feedback. 

• Ability to model techniques, behaviors, and the mindset of a growing artist.

 

Availability:

• We’re looking for someone who can commit to a flexible part-time schedule, with the opportunity for additional hours during camps and into the 2026–2027 school year. Consistency is essential for our programs and families, so this availability is required for the role. Required availability includes: 

  • All camp dates (scheduled ahead of time) 

  • One weekend shift a month (birthday parties + open studio) 

  • Reliable schedule during the school year; Monday through Thursday 2-6 pm.​
